Workwear for Women

Finding good gardening workwear for women has been a huge topic for us over the past year, and a conversation that we always come back to as a team. As I'm sure you already know, It is hard to find well-fitting, fit-for-purpose and (relatively) stylish workwear that stands up to daily wear-and-tear. However, we can recommend a few really good tried and tested options that will hopefully help you out.

1. Clothing:

Alison discovered Aardvark dungarees last year and introduced them as part of our uniform. They wash and dry so well, they are super durable, and they have lots of pockets – including a front zip pocket which never fails to come in handy for all of the bits and bobs we accumulate over the day. https://www.aardvarkclothing.com/

2. Gloves:

Spring and Summer gloves: Showa Spear & Jackson Gloves.

Autumn and Winter gloves: Keron Aqua Garden Gloves.

It's hard to find gloves that fit smaller hands properly that are actually appropriate for gardening throughout the seasons (and aren’t covered in chintzy patterns!) But these two work really well for us. We also like gloves that wash well, so we can just stick them in the washing machine at the end of the day without thinking too much about whether they’ll melt. We tend to use the Showa gloves in drier weather, and as the Keron gloves are waterproof they are very useful when the weather turns.

3. Boots:

Blundstone Steel Toe boots are comfortable, hard-wearing and easy to slip on and off. We're big fans.

4. Waterproofs:

We really like two brands: Flexothane and Fortress.

Both companies do good affordable waterproof jackets, as well as bib & braces (dungarees). They do run slightly larger than usual as they are unisex, but they have saved us from many potential soggy afternoons!

We hope these help in finding your perfect gardening attire. If you have any other good recommendations, please share them with us!
